Z95.3, the radio station who hosts the contest every year, has been playing the ZFX radio contest for over 10 years running. At special times throughout the day, the station will sound the alert to call-in and guess the current z-effect. At that exact moment, hundreds of thousands of people collectively dial their telephones in an attempt to be lucky caller number 9. The fortunate person who is lucky enough to get the chance to play ZFX, then has to guess exactly what the z-effect is in order to lay claim to the currently growing jackpot. Even though residents of British Columbia are only eligible to play and win the contest, ZFX is garnering lots of attention from across the country. Everyone, it seems, wants to be part of this phenomenon.
